Non-absorbable materials

Chiraflon monofil blue
Chiraflon monofil blue is a monofilament, non- -absorbable thread made of PVDF (similar to teflon). Physiologically this thread is completely inert. It is non-irritating in the tissue like steel. Chiraflon signifies optimal sleekness and superior knotting properties. The thread is characterised by its high tensile strength. No splitting occurs even under great strain.

Chiraflon is the ideal non-absorbable thread for surgery.

Indications: In all cases where the long term or permanent guarantee of the firmness of the structure under tensile load is needed – in all surgical branches, especially cardiovascular surgery, orthopedics, traumatology (tendons), plastic and ophtalmologic surgery (optimal temporary easily removable stitch).

Reaction in tissue: Chiraflon elicits a minimal initial inflammatory reaction in tissues which is followed by gradual encapsulation of the suture by fibrous connective tissue. It does not interfere with actual wound infection. The knots do not extrude.

Interaction: The suture must not penetrate into inner parts of digestive and urinary tracts.

Chiralen monofil blue
Chiralen monofil blue is a monofilament, non-absorbable thread made from polypropylene. The thread is hydrofobic, is not subject to degradation by tissue enzymes. Chiralen has a smooth, non-porous surface that guarantees a clean and smooth passage through the tissue – with a minimum amount of trauma. The thread shows no capillary effect and is therefore specially suited for stitches in infected wounds.

Reaction in tissue: Chiralen elicits a minimal initial inflammatory reaction in tissues which is followed by gradual encapsulation of the suture by fibrous connective tissue. It does not interfere with actual wound infection. The knots do not extrude.

Interaction: The suture must not penetrate into inner parts of digestive and urinary tracts.

Silon monofil
Silon monofil is a monofilament, synthetic, non- -absorbable thread made from polyamide it has a smooth non-porous surface. The thread is extremely useful for skin sutures and has a high tensile strength in knots and knots tie down easily. The thread is available in a blue and black colour.

Indication: Silon monofil is suitable especially for plastic and general surgery and whenever the skin is sutured.

Reaction in tissue: Slight initial inflammatory tissue reaction to a foreign body.

Interaction: Silon monofil should not be used, when a long term mechanical support is required.

Tervalon braided green
Tervalon braided plus
Tervalon braided green is a braided polyester suture material with a special coating of ethyl-cellulose and beeswax, which guarantees effortless tissue passage and excellent knot-tying characteristics. The extreme tensile strength and tissue compatibility are further positive characteristics of Tervalon which is used in all areas of surgery because of its favourable features.

Tervalon braided plus is specially designed for cardiovascular surgery. The PTFE coating reduces dead space in the braid. The thread is nearly completely without any capillary effect and provides a superior lubricity.

Indication: Tervalon is applicable wherever nonabsorbability and low friction passage through tissues are needed. It is therefore especially useful in suturing tendons, Schwann sheaths and skin in reconstructive and plastic surgery and many other applications including cardiovascular use. Tervalon is suitable for permanent continuing stitch and for long-term intradermal stitch.

Reaction in tissue: Suture elicits a minimal inflammatory reaction in tissues which is followed by gradual encapsulation of the suture by fibrous connective tissue.

Interaction: The suture must not penetrate into inner parts of digestive and urinary tracts.

Silon braided
Silon braided is braided, non-absorbable white suture made from polyamide. Braided sutures from polyamide have excellent tissue biocompatibility, minimal resistance to tissue passage and high knot security. Silon braided is characterized by a strong knot-pull strength.

Indications: Silon braided is suitable for suturing skin, subcutaneous tissue, transversely cut muscles, fascia, peritoneum, the organs of the gastrointestinal tract and blood vessels ligation.

Reaction in tissue: The suture elicits a minimal initial inflammatory reaction in tissues which is followed by gradual encapsulation of the suture by fibrous connective tissue.

Interaction: Silon braided should not be used for suturing of infected wounds. It should not be used, when long-term mechanical support is required.

Silk braided
Silk braided is a natural, non-absorbable suture material. To give Chirmax Silk braided a certain stiffness a special technology is applied. The braided suture is stiffened by inserting a twisted stem from the same material. The silk is coated with silicon to achieve water resistance and avoid its high capillary effect. The Chirmax Silk braided is characterized by its constant thread diameter and high tensile strength. The advantages of silk sutures are their extreme pliability, ease of handling and excellent knot strength.

Indication: Silk braided is suitable for suturing skin, subcutaneous tissue, fascia, peritoneum and the organs of the gastrointestinal tract.

Reaction in tissue: Silk braided is a water-soak suture and may cause minor initial inflammatory reaction in tissue.

Interaction: Silk braided should not be used for suturing of infected wounds. Silk cannot be used, when a permanent suture stability is required.
